Curriculum Vitae

Francesco Tarchi was born in Florence in 1968.

In 1990 graduated in violin from the Conservatorio "Cherubini " of Florence, he then continued his studies in Geneva and Biella ("Lorenzo Perosi" Academy) with Corrado Romano (pupil to Carl Flesch) graduating with vote "Excellent".

In 2004 he recorded a CD with Haendel, Beethoven and Brahms Sonatas.

He has played for three years in the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, He had the chance to observe at close quarters many masterpieces of Italian violin making :Stradivari , Guarneri and Guadagnini as played by soloists like Vengherov, Mullova, Rachlin, Repin, Ughi, Belkin

Around 1995 became interested in violin construction, and he became pupil to Master Francesco Bissolotti in Cremona.

He has made until today 49 violins, 5 violas and 3 Cello, using the classic Cremonese method (internal mould) respecting also the classical materials (willow for blocks and linings with stradivarian models as used in the finest Cremonese tradition with using models taken from Antonio Stradivari and Giuseppe Guarneri "del Gesù" and other famous makers .He pays great attention to plate thicknessing and to the exact archings,important considerations he has learned from the study and measuring of the great instruments

He gives equal importance to the setting up of each instrument, a technique reinforced by his continued violin playing

In 2006 presented two violins in Frankfurt Music Fair

He has been included in the book Contemporary Violin Makers edited in Germany by Jost Thone in 2006

His violins can be found in Spain, Holland , France and in important Italian and Taiwanese collections, one has been acquired by a Professor of the" Orchestra del Maggio Musicale" of Florence.

In 2007 the famous Italian pianist Andrea Lucchesini acquired a Tarchi violin for his son studying violin in Fiesole Music School (Florence)

His label is written in Latin like in the ancient Italian tradition:
